Full pool removal takes out the entire pool. The concrete shell, plumbing, rebar, and equipment are all broken up and hauled away. Nothing is left in the ground.

Next, the hole is filled with engineered backfill. This is approved soil placed in layers. Each layer is compacted before the next one is added. A licensed engineer tests each layer to confirm it meets the 90% relative compaction standard (ASTM D1557).

After all layers pass testing, the engineer writes and signs a compaction report. This report is submitted to Sacramento County to close your demolition permit.

Here is how it works. Approved fill material is placed into the pool hole in layers. Each layer is 8 to 12 inches deep. This is called a ‘lift.’ A machine compacts each lift before the next one is added. This removes air pockets and prevents the ground from sinking later.

After each lift is compacted, a licensed geotechnical engineer tests it. The engineer measures the soil density. The goal is 90% relative compaction or better. This is the California standard for residential sites (ASTM D1557).

When all lifts pass testing, the engineer writes a compaction report. The report is signed and stamped. This document is submitted to Sacramento County to close your pool demolition permit.
